With spring in full-bloom, it’s time to switch from berries to peaches…and no, I’m not talking about the fruit. I’m talking about lipstick of course! This season we see some trends continue, bold corals and the classic playful pink, to more trendy looks including glitter and grey-blue hues. Personally, the latter are out of my comfort zone, but I can tell you I love a good spring lipstick. Simultaneously, I’m trying to work through the makeup I own first, before purchasing too much more. So this is also a “shop my collection” post! (I know the Sephora VIB sale is this week, trying to contain my spending!). Read below for hot lipsticks for spring 2017 and let me know in the comments what you are feeling this season. And as always, there are never truly hard and fast rules in makeup. This just my take, go out and rock whatever you are feeling and what makes you feel best 🙂
Best Lipsticks for Spring 2017:
Colourpop Lipstick – Echo Park
One of online retailer Colourpop’s best selling colors, Echo Park is the perfect peachy-nude. When they offered free shipping a few weeks ago, I caved and ordered this, one of their Ultra Satin lips. The color is beautiful, and flatters my skin tone without washing me out. (I almost debated getting Magic Wand but glad I went with Echo Park because it’s a tad darker). Furthermore, the Ultra Satin formula is really comfortable albeit not transfer-proof. I think Echo Park is a perfect embodiment of the peachy nude shade and one of my top lipsticks for spring 2017.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor- Seduction
There are just soo many mixed reviews on this Revlon Formula. To me, it’s a hybrid between a lipstick and a gloss. It starts out glossy, then slowly becomes more matte as time goes on. It has almost a gel-like texture which is cool. Seduction is a great nude share for this season with that hint of glossiness I like for the warmer months.
Milani Color Statement Lipstick – Naturally Chic
Milani Naturally Chic is one of my favorite MLBB colors. Honestly, the bullet lipsticks are either hits or misses. 2 of the shades I love, the other 2 are patchy and overall duds. But Naturally Chic is totally a hit. I love how creamy it is and it gives a hint of color without overpowering my makeup look or outfit. Perfect pink-y shade for spring for those who aren’t into brighter or fuchsia shades.
Sephora Cream Lip Stain Collection – Peach Tea
Back in my January Favorites, I raved about Peach Tea. The Sephora Cream Lip Stains are some of my favorite long-lasting lipsticks around and only $14 each. Really, I was so delighted to see they expanded their shade range times four recently. I love how Peach Tea leans a little brown, but not in an unflattering way, which can be tricky with warmer skin tones. Although I got this for a special event back in January, I can’t wait to break it out again and know it’ll be one of my favorite lipsticks for spring 2017.
Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick – Romance Mauve
While this shade also made my fall list last year, I think it’s such a versatile nude with the ~ 90s~ vibe that’s coming back I couldn’t help but recycle it for the warmer months.
Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick – Coraline
Looking to try out coral on a budget? Admittedly, coral and bright orange lips seem intimidating at first, but they really aren’t! And they’re top of the list for super hot spring lipsticks of 2017. WNW’s Coraline is an orange-y coral with warm undertones. It’s a great way to test the trend without breaking the bank at less than $3 and one of my favorite drugstore formulas- long-wearing and the perfect combination of creamy yet matte.
Colourpop Lipstick – Mama
Back in the fall, I did a review on Colourpop’s Mama, and I’m delighted they still sell it. Mama is a true orange, in their Ultra Matte formula. So it’s incredibly long lasting but also quite drying. As I say, there’s a trade off with lipstick formulas. I love the boldness of this hue and always get complimented when I wear it.
Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick – Sugar Plum Fairy
Sugar Plum Fair is another part of WNW’s Megalast collection and a fun bright purple-pink color. It looks deceptively like a darker purple/berry in the tube, but applied is just the opposite. It’s such a fun color for spring and consistent with the line’s formula.
Too Faced Melted Lipstick – Melted Fig
If the idea of “purple” lips this season freaks you out, go for a more subtle interpretation of the word. Too Faced Melted Fig is a holy grail lip color of mine period. It’s especially flattering on warmer medium skin tones in my opinion, and really pulls together a look without being over the top!
And thus concludes my best lipsticks for spring 2017 mini-guide! I had lots of fun going through my collection and picking these out. And rediscovering a few oldies but goodies. Let me know in the comments what trends or colors you’re loving! Planning to pick up more at the VIB sale coming up?
