Hi everyone! First off, let me say I sure am sorry for not putting out posts these past couple weeks. I moved back to school and it’s just been so hectic between the inauguration (yikes), classes, and job hunting, I’ve been so wrapped up. Anyway, what better way to share what I’ve been up to this month than my January favorites! Check out what I’ve been loving this past month down below. PS I’m back to blogging again- no more gaps…I promise 🙂
Sephora Cream Lip Stain – Shade 40 (Pink Tea):
I’ve raved about the Sephora Lip Stains as some of my favorite liquid lipsticks on the market, and they recently expanded their shade selection times four. With a lot of self restraint, I picked up just one. Shade 40, Pink Tea, is a great true nude leaning a little on the brown side. I love this color for low maintenance days or when I want to play up my eyes. True to the other lip stains I have, the formula is pigmented, but not too thick, and wears through multiple meals!
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush – Shade Exposed:
This is sort of a “Youtube made me want it” product in all honesty! Asian beauty bloggers have raved about this flattering, pinky nude blush for years. This year, I caved and put it on my Christmas list. I am sort of a makeup hoarder as it is, but blushes are one category of major weakness (although it really feels impossible to ever hit pan on them). Overall, I like drugstore ones but it’s fun to add a higher end one to my collection. I also own a few other shades but this is the first more neutral blush I’ve gotten from their line and am far from disappointed.
Tarte’s Marine Boosting Mist:
I admit I’m rather skeptical when it comes to the idea of expensive priming and setting makeup sprays. Am I just spraying overpriced water on my face? Anyway, in case you haven’t figured out, I love trying and testing new makeup so I Tarte’s Marine Boosting Mist online and I’m glad I did! I really love using this spray to hydrate and prime my face, especially in the cooler months. It definitely makes my skin feel refreshed and makes the rest of my makeup look more seamless. Thinking of doing a full review in another post but really enjoying this so far.
Trader Joe’s Hot Cocoa Mix:
Okay I am by no means a food blogger, and rarely discuss it on here, but I have to give a special shout out in my January favorites to Trader Joe’s Organic Hot Chocolate. I literally have never tasted hot chocolate so delicious in my life. Even the Dunkin’ Donuts one does not compare and I’m from Boston originally so that says a lot!
Anyone who knows me, knows I’m an avid tea drinker. Teavana’s Youthberry white tea has been a favorite for a while, but I found out they sell it in sachets/bags in Starbucks which is quite exciting. It’s seriously the perfectly blend of white tea, fruit, and a bit of tang.
They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky- by Benson Deng, Alephonsion Deng, Benjamin Ajak
This semester I’m taking a Gender and Conflict course, and this is one of the readings I am really enjoying. It’s told from the point of view of the Lost Boys, and feels very authentic. So far it is tragic yet touching. My professor has met them and the author might come and speak this semester too! I’m very interested in international humanitarian issues and conflict so it’s right up my alley, even if it wasn’t assigned.
So this one is up in the air…but I’m ready to start planning my next big trip. I want to save for a post-grad trip somewhere with some friends, but I’m not sure where. Somewhere reasonably affordable (I’m on the East Coast) but I’m open to doing a domestic trip to a place I’ve never been or going international. Let me know in the comments if you have any suggestions or recommendations of places!
The Maine – Bad Behavior
The Mowglis – San Francisco
Zayn Malik & Taylor Swift – I Don’t Wanna Live Forever
Daya – Sit Still Look Pretty
Major League – Need I Remind You (Acoustic)
Well friends that’s my monthly roundup of January favorites. I hope you all enjoyed reading them…looking forward to more blogging this month. And Happy Monday everyone (I’m in a great mood this AM coming as a big Pats fan and last night’s historic comeback! Leave it to a New England team to be down by so many points then come through with such a win. Amazing.)
Until next time,
