Happy Memorial Day everyone! First off, I’m incredibly sorry to everyone for being so behind on blogging. Between final exams, finishing college (!!), packing/unpacking, job hunting, and graduation and all the hoopla around it, I’ve barely had time to write. One thing is for certain…May felt like one speedy month. It’s also the best time to be living in DC since the humidity hasn’t set in yet, and you can fully enjoy the sun and nature. Regardless, I’m looking forward to getting back on track and blogging more in June, with some exciting ideas for content already in the works. But with such a busy month, comes with trying new things and of course, sharing them with you all! Check out below for my May Favorites across a range of categories!
Beauty 360 Cleansing Makeup Remover Towelettes:Â
For years, I’ve sworn solely by Neutrogena makeup wipes I think 99% of the population uses. They do a great job at taking makeup off, but I never liked that greasy film-like feeling they leave. Anyway, this past month I picked up the Beauty 360 wipes which are proof you can’t write off in-house drugstore brands. One wipe takes my makeup off just as easily, while being alcohol and oil free, but doesn’t leave a slick feeling on my face. To the contrary, it leaves your skin feeling really refreshed which sold me on switching over. I’m seriously surprised how much I love these, making them one of my top May favorites in the beauty department.
Project Beauty Share
So one thing I never look forward to is organizing and packing. Well sort of a lie…I’m an ESTJ and a Capricorn so I love sorting. But de-cluttering not so much. Last year, I went through a phase where I felt I needed to have multiples of every product just because. I like to collect and try different items, sometimes for blogging purposes, but at the end of the day I’ll never get through all I own. Instead of throwing away gently used or unopened products, I looked into ways of donating them. Project Beauty Share is a great solution! Based in Washington State, this nonprofit collects lightly used or unopened beauty products and gives them to women in need. Oftentimes these women are marginalized or victims of domestic violence. While makeup of course doesn’t fix everything, sometimes the swipe of a lipstick or new perfume can help build a woman’s confidence back up.
Project Beauty Share accepts gently used or unopened makeup, shower gels, shampoo, skincare products, etc. I ended up mailing them a highlighter, an eye shadow palette, a blush, 3 unopened nail polishes, and 3 unopened lipsticks. I simply wrapped and packaged them in a bubble mailer and shipped it from the post office. It’s nice to know these won’t be going to waste and to a woman in need. Win win.
Colourpop Echo Park
Earlier, in my spring lipstick post, I raved about Colourpop’s Ultra Satin lip color in Echo Park. And I just had to slip it into my May favorites as well. To date, it has yet to disappoint me. I seriously love how versatile it is and it’s the perfect daytime nude color. I like it has a hint of gloss to it for the summer months as well. Definitely recommend this and PSA – free shipping on Colourpop until the 31st of May! Happy shopping.
So this has actually been booked for a few months, but I never got around to sharing that I’m headed back to Europe in the fall! I guess I just can’t stay away after my summer last year. No but in all seriousness, my family just had to take advantage of a great flight deal so in September my mom and I are off to Spain for a little over a week! Specifically Barcelona, but we probably won’t spend the whole time in one city, and are looking at other trips in the country or around. And I’ll be travel blogging my way through of course. Let me know if you have suggestions in the comments!
In the ever changing life a millennial, one life alteration I’ve made over the past few months has been cutting down on the meat I eat. I never ate massive amounts to begin with, however I was never aware of the detriment eating meat causes to our environment. Did you know it takes over 400 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef? (In comparison a 10 minute shower uses about 25 gallons). Or that beef and lamb emit high amounts of climate damaging CO2 gases? I’m not here to announce I’ve made some dramatic switch to veganism or vegetarianism (however if you are, go you!), but rather I’ve become a “reducetarian.” Wonder what that means? Check out this interesting article.
Instead of quitting cold turkey (no pun intended) becoming aware of food choices and cutting back is a great middle ground while helping Mother Earth. Personally, I don’t eat beef anymore and cut back on meat overall. Does this mean I’ll cause a scene if someone orders an appetizer with beef in it? Absolutely not. But if I can go for tofu, beans, of falafel over meat I will. Or opt for more environmentally friendly choices. Â I believe moderation in food choices, lifestyle changes, and understanding these issues can go a long way!
Ed Sheeran – New Man / Galway Girl
I don’t think I’m alone in loving Ed Sheeran’s latest album. I’ve  had it on repeat the past couple months, but these two are my absolute favorites.
Mike Perry (ft. Shy Martin) – The Ocean
I’m not super into electronic music but I do love tropical house, especially come summer. This song is sooo catchy I feel like I should be driving to the beach with my windows down when I play.
The Maine -Â Raining in Paris
I would be remiss to not include a song from my favorite band who I had the pleasure of seeing earlier this month. Honestly, seeing them again is right up there with all the school-related stuff as a highlight of this month. I’ve seen them 9 times and it truly never gets old. Hearing Raining in Paris live for the first time, in a soft acoustic vibe, was just so wonderful. The Maine is such a special band and very dear to my heart. I mean, you know I already have tickets for the August tour 😉
And that about wraps up my May favorites post everyone! Thank you all for being patient/sticking around with me this crazy time of year and hope everyone is having a month. I love hearing from you guys, so let me know in the comments any beauty, music, travel or lifestyle things you’ve been loving this month.
Until next time,
