Am I the only one who thinks the month of September always flys by? With the start of school and readjustment to college life (among other things), it’s safe to say I’m not sure where this month went! Check out some things I’ve been loving this month with my September Favorites :
A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide by Samantha Powers. My “leisure” reading drops quite dramatically once classes get going but I found this in our library and had to pick it up. The book covers case studies of different genocides and the role (or lackthereof) America played in the 20th century. Starting with the Amernian genocide, Samantha Powers covers the Holocaust, Bosnia, Cambodia, and more, up through Rwanda. Admittedly, a heavy and horrifying topic, there’s something intrinsically fascinating how this can happen and the American politics/policy surrounding it. I’m still reading, but so far it is an incredible piece of work worth reading.
Porter Robinson + Madeon – Shelter: Seriously in love with this electro-house single and can’t wait to see them live together in November. Click here to listen.
Am I Pretty - The Maine: Anyone who knows me at all knows I will love this band till my dying breath. Their album, American Candy, dropped a little over a year ago but lately I’ve just been non-stop jamming out to their song Am I Pretty. Click here to listen.
Closer – The Chainsmokers (feat. Halsey): This song is just so damn catchy. Currently loving the blend of the band’s poppy and electric vibe + Halsey’s angelic voice. Click here to listen.
Make UP FOREVER HD Microfinish Power: I cashed in some Sephora rewards a while back and picked up a cute sample of this…and it is great. The powder is loose and comes in a jar, as opposed to a compact like most drugstore powders. I find this is best to use for creating more definition to your contour! After contouring, I pat some of this in the area between contour powder and jawline then do the rest of my makeup. At the end, I brush it away and it really sharpens up the cheekbone even more.
NYX Contour Single (Shade: Sculpt): Oh and speaking of contour, this NYX single is totally worth mentioning in my September Favorites. My holy grail kit is Kat Von D’s Shade + Light palette, but I’m forever seeking new products to test and try. I picked up the NYX pan for an affordable $5 back in early spring. At the time it was a little dark for me, but after a summer tan this is the perfect neutral-toned color for defining the jawline and face.
CoverGirl Matte BB Cream:Â This BB cream has easily become one of my all time September Favorites…and beyond. You can check out my full review here but a month later and I am still loving it!
My Planner:Â Just throwing this in here because I am forever reliant on my planner. I love school supplies but my favorite has to be a physical planner. I cannot face organizing my life on my phone or e-mail…handwritten is the only way to go (#OldSchool). Between 5 classes, 2 jobs, and extracurriculars I’m not sure where I would be without this.
Canada: Okay you might be asking how a whole country can fall under September Favorites but I’m so excited to share I officially booked my next trip! At the end of October, I’m going to Montreal with my best friend! Stay tuned for plenty of travel blogging. Guys…is there any better feeling than planning out your next travel adventure and hitting “book” for your plane tickets?Â
Hope you all enjoyed checking out my September favorites! Let me know in the comments what you’ve been loving this month 🙂
