Happy May everyone! Honestly, where does time go? So much is going on in my life right now, graduation in a few weeks, continual job-hunting, finals, and of course blogging! Anyway, for those who missed in a post or two back, I’m trying to downsize my beauty/makeup collection. Honestly, I don’t wear all that much but I went through a phase of collecting it and now it’s all on my vanity. While I’m not on a “no-buy”, Â I’m trying to work through some products and use them up before I start buying more. Check out my skincare empties below with mini-reviews and whether I would repurchase or not!
L’Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one in the world who isn’t on the setting spray train. It’s taken me ages to get through this setting spray and I’m “meh” about it. It doesn’t take off or smudge my makeup, but I also don’t notice a real difference with my makeup’s longevity. For almost $20 I just don’t think this is a winner product. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t really live up to its claims either.
Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer
I actually picked this up at CVS as a free sample a while back and decided to try it out. (Also how giant is this sample compared to the ones at Sephora!). The product claims to repair moisture and is meant to be applied right on wet skin after a shower. Although it claims to be greaseless, I found it has a somewhat greasy texture when applied. Because it goes on wet skin, it’s a bit more slippery than I would like so I wouldn’t purchase.
ULTA Matte Primer
This has to be one of the most underrated primers out there for oily or combination skin. I picked this up last year from ULTA, and opt for it during the spring and summer months. It has a sort of a thick, silicone consistency so the key is to let it sit for a few moments before applying the next step. I find it really extends the wear of my makeup and keeps me shine free during the months I tend to be more oily! Additionally, it’s paraben free so that’s a plus!
Tarte BB Tinted Moisturizer
For those of you who are new to my blog, this is one BB cream I continuously rave about. I love how lightweight and easy to apply it is. Although it doesn’t give tons of coverage, it gives you that perfect of a mix of a matte and dewy look. Since I love this so much, I already have a backup in my collection to break out now that it’s empty.
Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream
This was one of the first BB creams I ever tried back in the day. While I don’t hate it, I don’t love it. The shade “Medium” Â is a little too light for me, and the next shade up is too dark. Since it’s not quite summertime yet, this one works okay, but I still find it cakes around my nose and mouth area. Overall, I think it’s an okay product providing medium coverage but still a little cake-y around dry areas. I’m glad I took the time to use it up and not waste it, but I wouldn’t repurchase it again knowing what else is out on the market.
Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream
Last summer I picked this up and shortly after, wrote a review. It’s a much more watery consistency than the two above, but really is so long-lasting and keeps you matte all day long. Additionally, it provides a lot more coverage than your average BB cream which can be good for those rougher days. Between my Tarte BB cream, I like to use this as a drugstore option and highly recommend! Definitely repurchase worthy.
Well that about wraps up this post! I always enjoy reading posts or watching videos on skincare empties and mini-reviews, so I figured I’d do one myself. Have you guys tried any of these products? What items are you trying to work through in your beauty stash? Let me know below.
